Sathirathai reemerging?

The Vietnamese press reports that the Thai Foreign Minister is claiming strong support from NAM:

Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) countries have responded positively to Thai Deputy Prime Minister Surakiart Sathirathai's bid to become the next Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), according to Thai Foreign Minister Kantathi Suphamongkhon.

During his informal discussions with representatives from several countries during a recent NAM meeting in Putrajaya, Malaysia, many expressed support for Surakiat, while others asked for some time to consider, Kantathi said.

However, at Ban Ki-moon's introduction at the Council on Foreign Relations, Brian Hoge, New York Times UN Correspondent had a list of names in circulation. Sathirathai was not on it. We will have text later.

And our understanding is that China is telling people that they have pulled their support from Sathirathai. We believe that this has been written somewhere, but we are still working on the source.
