Thaied up in knots?

Many people have commented on the strange election results in Thailand. We recommend the CFR summary. So what does this have to do with the Secretariat?

Well, Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Surakiart Sathirathai is a self-declared candidate. Can someone be a viable candidate for Secretary-General while your country cannot hold an election that creates an operative Parliament?

Furthermore, can someone be a candidate while he is Deputy Prime Minister while his Prime Minister is accused by hundreds of thousands of his own people of corruption?

Will the UK and the US tolerate a Secretary-General with strong questions about his attitude towards corruption when that has been a fundamental part of their reform efforts?
